Despite the title of this LP, there actually are not any trios on this set. However a trio of great boogie-woogie pianists (Albert Ammons, Pete Johnson and Meade Lux Lewis) are heard from in rare radio hteninaltherpuncmers.sinjuburaralyphetolasubteli.infoinfon's quartet performs four numbers (including "Swanee River Boogie" and "St. Louis Blues Boogie") from a concert, each of the pianists are heard on a solo from , Johnson 7/

Mr. Gibson dropped out of Julliard and became Harry the Hipster much to the appreciation of boogie woogie, proto-beatnik jazz fans. Yes, this is a funny album with lots of dated jive lingo and overt drug references, etc., but it is also a great jazz piano album/5(3).

Early on, the set airs Tommy Dorsey's "Boogie Woogie," the chart that led directly to the style's resurgence, and proceeds to great swing/boogie-woogie crossovers -- from Benny Goodman, Woody Herman, Gene Krupa, Harry James, Bob Crosby, and Jack Teagarden-- as well as a few of its original practitioners like Albert Ammons and Pete Johnson.8/
